Marvellous Mauritius Charters
Set in the spectacular isolation of the Indian Ocean, over 1,000 nautical miles off the coast of Madagascar, Mauritius is the otherworldy home to all manner of flora and fauna.
Dramatic cliffs jut skyward from under a canopy of green on an otherwise flat island, and thousands of brightly-coloured tropical fish flock while sperm whales frolic around in impossibly blue waters. Above, 39 species of butterfly add fluttering colour to this vibrant nation.
The main island of Mauritius, with its central plateau and cities including Port Loui and Curepipe, is surrounded by numerous small, uninhabited islands with amazing white sandy beaches, like Île Plate (Flat Island).
The main island is ringed by several mountain ranges with volcanic origins. The highest peak on the island is Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire, which reaches 828 meters (2,717 feet). These mountains form a rugged, dramatic landscape, particularly in the south and southwest of the island.
Sit back and relax whilst cruising along the stunning Mauritian coastline, discovering this magical island from a different perspective on a luxury yacht charter.
Enjoy tranquil anchorages, crystal clear snorkelling spots, unspoilt beaches and the island’s exotic natural beauty as you sail around Grand Baie, Tamarin Bay, and Gabriel Island.
Relax at sunset sipping a tropical cocktail or fine wine whilst dinner is prepared for you by your very own crew.

Sailing Conditions
Sailing conditions in Mauritius are generally very good, with consistent trade winds blowing from the northeast. The sea conditions in Mauritius are also generally good, with clear blue water and few waves. The water temperature is warm all year round, ranging from 22°C to 27°C.
The winds are strongest during the winter months (May to September), when they can reach up to 25 knots. The summer months (October to April) are slightly calmer and less windy, with average wind speeds of 15-20 knots, still enough to get moving but a gentler introduction to this spectacular sailing area.
Mauritius is surrounded by a lagoon that is protected by the world’s third-largest coral reef, which encircles most of the island. This coral barrier forms a calm, shallow and safe anchorage teeming with marine life, ideal for water sports, snorkeling and diving.
Thanks to its remote location and exposure to natural elements, Mauritius is definitely a destination for the experienced sailor, although a variety of skippered and crewed catamaran charter yachts open a Mauritius sailing vacation to a wider audience.
Where to Sail
Here are some of the best places to sail in Mauritius:
Grand Port: This is a large bay on the east coast of Mauritius, and it is a popular spot for both experienced and beginner sailors. The winds are strong and consistent, and the sea conditions are generally calm.
Tamarin Bay: A famous surfing hotspot, Tamarin bay is is exposed to the southern swells from the Indian Ocean, so we don't recommend heading here by boat, but there are some lovely anchorages nearby, as well as the modern La Balise Marina.
Blue Bay: This is a sheltered bay on the south coast of Mauritius, and it is a great place to sail if you are looking for calm waters. The bay is also home to a number of coral reefs, which makes it a popular spot for snorkeling and diving.
Mahebourg: This is a town on the south coast of Mauritius, and it is a great place to base yourself if you are planning on doing some sailing. There are a number of sailing schools and charter companies in Mahebourg, and the town is also home to a number of beautiful beaches.
Pointe d'Esny: This is a beautiful spot with clear waters and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Île aux Cerfs: This is a small island with a white-sand beach and crystal-clear waters. It is a popular destination for day trips and is a great place to go sailing.

Getting to Mauritius
It's easier than you might imagine to get to Mauritius, with direct flights from many major European hubs like London and Paris.
An alternative would be to go via Istanbul, Dubai or South Africa.
Ask your broker if you're unsure - they're yacht charter experts and can't book your flights, but do have a good feel for the available flight routes.
Saint Brandon Expedition
Truly get away from it all during your once-in-a-lifetime trip to this remote atoll located 268 nautical miles, or 430 km, to the north-east of Mauritius.
Saint Brandon is a unique group of more than 50 pristine islands, coral ridges and sand flats. It’s one of very few places on earth that remains genuinely untouched and unspoilt.
It’s home to thousands of birds, and giant sea turtles lay their eggs on its deserted beaches. The outer reef is teeming with marine life: fish, octopus, rays, sharks and more.
