Captain Marin brings a lifetime of maritime experience to M/Y Gatsby, having worked his way up from tankers and offshore vessels to luxury yachts cruising the Mediterranean and beyond. With a calm, confident approach and a passion for life at sea, he’s the kind of captain who makes guests feel safe, looked after, and completely at ease.
Over the years, Marin has helmed some
impressive vessels and a range of other high-end private and charter yachts. Whether managing refits, leading long passages, or
hosting discerning guests, he’s all about precision, smooth sailing, and running a tight but happy ship.
Respected for his strong leadership, deep technical knowledge and love for the sea, Marin is always learning, always improving and always bringing his best to the team and the guests on board.


Chief Officer
Ivan Šimunović
Nationality: Croatian Languages: Croatian, English
Born and raised in Split, Croatia, Ivan has a deep-rooted passion for the sea and always knew he'd build his life around it. With years of hands-on experience, from deckhand to charter captain, he brings calm leadership and solid technical skills to his current role as Chief Officer.
Ivan is known for his easygoing nature, strong technical know-how, and calm leadership style. Whether he's navigating coastal waters, overseeing maintenance,
or jumping in to help the team, he brings reliability and a great sense of humor to the crew.
When he's not on deck, Ivan enjoys learning about new technologies and maintaining his connection to the sea through every aspect of his life.


Engineer
Josip Vulić
Nationality: Croatian Languages: Croatian, English
Josip is a technically proficient Marine Engineer holding a Master of Science in Marine Engineering and a Second Engineer Unlimited Certificate of Competency. With more than five years of experience aboard LNG carriers, he has developed extensive expertise in engine room operations, propulsion systems, preventive maintenance, automation systems, and vessel safety management. His professional approach, strong work ethic, and attention to detail have enabled him to maintain machinery and technical spaces to the highest operational standards while ensuring reliability and efficiency in demanding maritime environments.

In addition to his commercial shipping background, Josip has extensive experience in the tourism and hospitality sector. Between 2012 and 2019, he worked in luxury tourism throughout the Dalmatian region of Croatia, managing VIP guest relations, concierge services, travel logistics, and bespoke itineraries for high-end clients. As a VIP Relations Driver for Ultra Europe and through his work with Croatia Private Tours, he gained valuable experience in guest service, discretion, communication, and delivering exceptional client experiences. This hospitality background provides him with a strong understanding of luxury service standards and guest expectations within the yachting industry.

Josip also worked as a freelance marine technician, providing maintenance, diagnostics, and servicing of marine engines and onboard systems in local marinas, further strengthening his practical knowledge of yacht machinery and maintenance requirements.

He is a non-smoker, holds valid US B1/B2 and C1/D visas, and combines strong technical expertise with a positive attitude, professionalism, and a service-oriented mindset. His goal is to build a long-term career within the superyacht industry, where he can apply both his engineering knowledge and hospitality experience to support safe operations and exceptional guest experiences.



Chief Stewardess
Matea Juraga
Nationality: Croatian Languages: Croatian, English
Matea Juraga is an experienced and dedicated stewardess born in Zadar, Croatia, with over six seasons in the yachting industry and a strong background on busy charter yachts ranging from 35 to 55 meters. She progressed from 3rd to 2nd stewardess and has worked across all departments, building a well-rounded skill set in housekeeping, service, laundry, and guest care.

She holds a WSET certification and a cocktail mixology course, allowing her to deliver elevated beverage service and enhance the guest experience. With a background in law, she brings strong attention to detail, structure, and problem-solving skills to her work.

Positive, adaptable, and hands-on, Matea thrives in fast-paced environments and is committed to delivering exceptional service as part of a professional crew.

Stewardess
Anja Marković

Professional service stewardess specializing in delivering exceptional service aboard luxury charter yachts. Combining discretion, elegance, and the highest standards with adaptability and composure in dynamic situations. Multilingual, holding international certifications and fine dining experience, dedicated to creating unforgettable moments for every guest.

Luka Arapovic

Seasoned Chef with extensive experience in top tier restaurants
leadership, 50m yachts,adept at maintaining high standards od
organization, quality and cost effective operations. I would bring
culinary exellence, diverse cooking techniques and a passion for
Mediterranean, Italian, French, Continental and Asian cuisine to the
position of Head chef.

Dedicated to motivating teams, meticulous
attention to detail and professional excellence. I have many years of
expirience in managing high-quality restaurants that require a lot of
attention, always striving for high levels of organization, quality and
cost-effective supply and financial control.

During all these years I have acquired the abillity to work creativly, seek positive reactions from workers through motivation and communication and high
business professionalism where attention to detail is important.

Various cooking techniques have been acquired trough many years of
work in top tear restaurants and yachts, various types of preparation
of meat, fish, desserts, marinades, etc. Methods of preparation and
procedures of dishes, as well as all other methods of preparation of all
basis of dishes, sauces, foundations, bases, creams, etc. are exclusivly
made and cooked on the yacht by me, without any additives,
supplements or industrial products.

Good to know

We want to make sure you are well prepared and informed for your trip. Here are a few things you might want to know before you set off.
An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is an amount paid to the yacht before your charter. It's a fund to cover expenses such as food & drink eaten on board, fuel and mooring fees. At the end of your charter, you’ll receive a detailed document showing how the APA was spent, and any remaining balance will be refunded to you. if in doubt about what is included, ask your HELM broker.
The Captain will let you know if you're about to overspend and discuss your next steps, which wil generally be a bank transfer to top up the funds.
We recommend (10-15% for the Med) (15-20% for the Caribbean/Bahamas) of your charter fee, which will be split evenly among the crew (it's a nice touch to bring a blank envelope or a thank you card in advance).
We'll share your Captain's details with you a few weeks before your charter. We can set up a group chat with your group and the captain to discuss plans before you go.
