Athens Yacht Charter
History and culture collide at the original Mediterranean cruising ground.
Alluring Ancient Athens
Athens is the capital city of Greece and one of the world's most popular sailing holiday destinations.
A bustling port city, Athens is the ideal starting point for a Greece yacht charter, whether exploring the Saronic Gulf or venturing further into the Aegean Sea and visiting the more scattered Cyclades islands.
Choose your sailing area, weaving between the rugged Cyclades (perfect for the more experienced sailor) or characterful Saronic islands like Hydra. Or head west along the Pelopennese coast of mainland Greece, exploring busy town and sandy beach alike.
The Saronic Gulf is a mostly coastal sail area, unlike the island hopping more common in the other Greek island groups like the Ionian Sea, Argolic Gulf, or Dodecanese islands.
Athens is good for:
Simple sheltered sailing

Luxury Yacht Charter Athens
Hire a private yacht charter skipper, kick back and enjoy a luxury week on the water, cruising from beautiful island to remote anchorage, and from bustling town quay to quaint fishing village. What could be better than a crewed yacht charter Athens?
The haven for luxury crewed yacht charters, with a great choice of classic yachts and cutting-edge modern boats.
Drop anchor in Cape Sounion bay and hike up to the iconic Temple of Poseidon, looking out over the turquoise waters of the rugged northern Cyclades island group.
Marinas in Athens
With several boat rental marinas, Athens is the charter yacht hub of the east Mediterranean, with thousands of monohull, catamaran and motor yacht options ready to explore the Greek islands on bareboat or skippered charter.
Alimos
The iconic Athens bareboat charter base, Alimos marina is home to over 1000 charter yachts, and perfectly located for sailing holidays spent cruising the beaches of the Saronic Gulf. Also known as Kalamaki marina, Alimos has all sorts of yachts including sailing yacht, catamaran, and motor boat options.
Marina Zea
One of the smallest marinas in the Athens region, set in a nondescript suburb and favoured by a large British charter provider. Zea marina is a small charter company marina within the port of Piraeus.
A short taxi ride from Europe’s oldest city, the marina is surrounded by good quality tavernas, provisioning is easy, and there is a maritime museum about 10 minutes walk from the dock.
Marina Delta Kallithea
A real outlier among several big, dirty and decrepit Athens marinas, the newly completed Marina Delta is an absolute joy to spend time in.
This clean, modern marina has great transport links to the city and airport (45 minutes away) thanks to a newly built road.
The modern facilities include a café, restaurant, opera house and cinema complex and even a maritime museum housed in an old warship. This is a surprisingly serene place to start and end a charter out of Athens.
Agios Kosmas marina
Originally constructed for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Agios Kosmas marina is a quiet specialist yacht charter base and home to one of the world's largest charter companies, who take up most of the berths on Saturdays.
It is a bit of a trek to the nearest bars and restaurants. Fuel is brought to the pontoon at the end of every charter.
