A Phuket Yacht Charter is the ideal way to explore the exotic beauty of the diverse Andaman Islands.
This is a sample 7-day itinerary for a Phuket yacht charter. The beauty of a private charter is that it is completely flexible and can be tailored to your preferences.
As such, please consider this just one example of what can be done when sailing the Andaman Islands.
The Route
DAY
Phuket – Koh Phanak – Koh Hong (24nm)
Phuket is a lovely place to start a charter, with two well-equipped marinas serving the majority of the charter industry in the country. Phang Nga Bay is a stunning bay full of strikingly tall islands that seem to appear from the sea, all with distinctive lime stone cliffs.

Koh Hong – Koh Pan Yi – Koh Yoi Noi Paradise resort (19nm)
Koh Pan Yi (pronounced Koh Panyee) is a fishing village entirely built on stilts by Indonesian fishermen at the end of the 18th century.

Koh Yoi Noi – Ko Dam Hok (Chicken Head) (17nm)
Coming out of Phang Nga Bay, you will be amazed by the difference in appearance of the islands; Ko Dam Hok looks like a tropical island, surrounded by sandy beaches, and glistening water. Behind the beach there is a restaurant and bungalow development that is often frequented by a large troop of tame monkeys.

Ko Phi Phi Don (12nm)
The Phi Phi islands are a must for any visit to the Andaman sea, known as the some of the most beautiful islands in the world, with high limestone cliffs softened by white sandy beach’s and crystal clear water.

Ko Phi Phi Don (Ton Sai Bay) (11nm)
Ton Sai bay is a large well-protected bay surrounded by large limestone cliffs, under which is some great diving and snorkelling locations. The main village of Phi Phi Island is built around Ton Sai bay, a large village that caters for all tourists from 5 star resorts to hostels, there are a number of shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. This village is busy year round and offers plenty to do.

Koh Racha Yai (25nm)
Koh Racha Yai is the larger of the two islands that make up the Racha islands, known as one of the best scuba diving spots in the area with the visibility on the east coast of Koh Racha lee being as good as 30 m! The island features two main beaches both offering soft white sand and stunning views of the nearby islands.

Phuket (28nm)
It’s back to the marina at Phuket today, but plenty of time to stop off for lunch and a final swim before you do so. Ko Rang Yai is a small uninhabited island close to Phuket making it an ideal final evening anchorage

An ideal first night anchorage nice and sheltered in a bay between three neighbouring islands, there is a ranger station on Koh Yai who will pay you a visit to ask for a 200 Baht per person per day national park entry fee.
Koh Hong features the largest hong on any island in Phang Nga bay, this can be accessed at any state of tide, but is best experienced on a higher tide. From the main hong there is a small tunnel which on a tide between 2.2 – 2.4 m has access to another two smaller hongs. Koh Yai features a small beach In the mornings you will be offered fresh seafood from the local fishermen in their long boats.
The Paradise resort on Koh Yoi Noi is set in its own sandy half moon bay, an enchanting resort featuring hammocks tied between trees, a cocktail and lounge area right on the beach, as well as a choice of two restaurants which extend onto the beach. The rooms of the resort are scattered up into the hills behind the resort.
- Explore the stilted village of Koh Pan Yi, and wander the streets where you will find a number of souvenir shops, a football field (very popular local sport) a glimpse into every day life as you will see the school, and the locals going about their daily activities. There are several excellent seafood restaurants in Koh Pan Yi, perfect for lunch with a view of the bay.
- Mountain biking – The Paradise resort is situated 7 km from the main village of Ko Yoi Noi, through a mountainous jungle, for those looking for a work out this is the ideal way to explore the local village!
- Rock Climbing – The area is home to over 50 climbs overhanging Phaung Nga Bay, the resort has ideal climbs for all abilities
- Thai Cooking classes – the resorts chefs offer foodies a master cooking class teaching how to create the unique flavours of the Thai cuisine
- Quad Biking – For the adventurous, hire quad bikes and explore the jungle trails through to the village of Ko Yoi Noi where you can dine in a number of restaurants, and explore this traditional Thai village.
Dance the night away with live entertainment from the bar situated right on the beach.
Take part in a yoga class, everyday the resort offers two yoga classes, the morning class is up-beat and energetic, while the evening class are more relaxing and rejuvenating in the Yin style of yoga
Ko Dam Khwan is completely undeveloped making this an ideal anchorage to enjoy the beautiful beach and fringing reef to your self, after around 5 pm when all the day-trippers leave.
When leaving be sure to sail around Ko Dam Khwan and check out the huge chicken head that is formed in the rocks! There are plenty of shops, restaurants in Komiza and a very popular nightclub close by on Kamenica Beach
- Snorkel the coral bommies that surround the island
- Explore in the Dinghy between Ko Dam Hok and Ko Dam Khwan where there is a giant sand spit surrounded by fringing reef
- Dine ashore at the restaurant on nearby Koh Dam Hok, and be entertained by tame monkeys
The Phi Phi islands are a must for any visit to the Andaman sea, known as the some of the most beautiful islands in the world, with high limestone cliffs softened by white sandy beach’s and crystal clear water. Sparsely populated, the island has a small and beautiful harbour, Palmiziana Cove, with a marina and some good restaurants on the waterfront.
The north side of Ko Phi Phi don is in direct contrast to the south side, being a tropical paradise with a soft powdery sand beach and lapping crystal clear water just underneath there is 200m of fringing reef out the front. Along the beach there are a number of resorts offering a range of beach side dining options.

Ton Sai bay is a large well-protected bay surrounded by large limestone cliffs, under which is some great diving and snorkelling locations. The main village of Phi Phi Island is built around Ton Sai bay, a large village that caters for all tourists from 5 star resorts to hostels, there are a number of shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. This village is busy year round and offers plenty to do.
Either take an excursion on your own yacht, or a guided tour on a local long tail boat from either of the anchorages on Ko Phi Phi Don. Ko Phi Phi Lee is stunningly beautiful, with it’s gorgeous Maya Bay made famous from the movie “The Beach” staring Leonardo Di Caprio. In addition to Maya bay, there are some stunning day anchorages on the other side of Ko Phi Phi lee in between the lime stone cliffs that are well worth exploring.
- There are a number of dive operators that offer guided dives to nearby dive spots
- Party the night away at the beach bars
- Get provisions from the local markets
- Walking trails around the island and up to the view point
- Snorkel: there are a number of dive/ snorkel spots on both sides of the bay

Outside of this main anchorage there are a number of smaller bays that make great day stops offering great diving, lovely beaches and great fishing. In the main anchorage in Kon Kare Bay you will find the Ban Raya resort and spa.
- The area is renowned for fishing, either fish from your yacht, or join a traditional Thai fisherman on his long boat.
- Scuba diving and snorkelling
- The Ban Raya resort has a horse riding club which you can visit and go on horse rides a great way to enjoy the stunning scenery

- Enjoy the facilities of the day spa at the Ban Raya resort Visit the Museum of Brac near to the small town of Skrip
Home to Phuket today, with time for a swim stop in the magical Ko Rang Yai before the week ends.
Ko Rang Yai is a small uninhabited island close to Phuket making it an ideal final anchorage, it is a beautiful unspoiled tropical island featuring a 1 km long sandy beach on the western side.
