About AURA

Best for: families and small groups seeking a premium cruising base in the Whitsundays, with groups of friends after a well-run, activity-rich charter a close second.

Built in 2023 by Horizon, AURA is a 27-metre motor yacht based in Airlie Beach with a four-person crew that handles every detail so guests never have to think twice. Her standout is the full-beam master cabin on the main deck, a genuinely spacious private retreat with king bed, his and her sinks, and a separate shower. Four further queen cabins on the lower deck, each with ensuite, accommodate up to ten guests across five cabins with no compromises on comfort.

Captain Adrian Nelson brings over thirty years of maritime experience across the Mediterranean, Caribbean and both coasts of Australia, including offshore racing and dive leadership. Chef and stewardess Megan Beker has worked aboard a string of superyachts and now channels that background into meal planning, provisioning and event coordination tailored to every guest. On the water, AURA carries a Boston Whaler tender, a Sea-Doo Spark jet ski, ten snorkel sets, three sea scooters, three stand-up paddleboards, a wakesurfer, kneeboard and an inflatable pontoon, giving active groups plenty to work through across a week in the Whitsundays.

Guest reviews

"Just finished up the charter yesterday. It was the most fantastic experience, we got to see lots of whales up close (almost touching the boat) and the weather was generally great. We were two families visiting from Ireland (with some grown-up/late teenage kids) and it really was the experience of a lifetime. I just wanted to compliment Adrian, Megs, Gaby and Connor – they were absolutely superb in every respect and fantastic ambassadors for the boat and for Australia generally. The food was phenomenal (Megs is some find!), Adrian’s navigation skills and overall calmness/control of the yacht and the professionalism and helpfulness of the team all round was top class. They asked for feedback on anything they could improve and we literally couldn’t offer any suggestions, it was that good. The boat itself is just amazing and the design and layout are simply perfect."

Good to know

We want to make sure you are well prepared and informed for your trip. Here are a few things you might want to know before you set off.
An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is an amount paid to the yacht before your charter. It's a fund to cover expenses such as food & drink eaten on board, fuel and mooring fees. At the end of your charter, you’ll receive a detailed document showing how the APA was spent, and any remaining balance will be refunded to you. if in doubt about what is included, ask your HELM broker.
The Captain will let you know if you're about to overspend and discuss your next steps, which wil generally be a bank transfer to top up the funds.
We recommend (10-15% for the Med) (15-20% for the Caribbean/Bahamas) of your charter fee, which will be split evenly among the crew (it's a nice touch to bring a blank envelope or a thank you card in advance).
We'll share your Captain's details with you a few weeks before your charter. We can set up a group chat with your group and the captain to discuss plans before you go.
