About TABULA RASA

Best for: groups of friends seeking a genuine BVI adventure, with couples wanting something more personal a close second.

Tabula Rasa is a Lagoon catamaran based in Road Town, Tortola, and what sets her apart is the crew: Demian and Angie Thomas own and operate her themselves, bringing a level of personal investment that is rare in charter. Demian has 30 years in the industry, crossed the Atlantic seven times, and grew up sailing offshore from South Africa. Angie is a competitive water sports athlete with real delivery miles behind her. This is their dream, and guests feel it.

She sleeps up to six across three queen-berth guest suites, making her a natural fit for three couples or a close-knit group of friends. The BVI waters are ideal for the kind of sailing Demian has spent his career mastering, and Angie brings the water sports enthusiasm to match. With just two guests reviews so far she is a newer charter option, but the crew credentials speak for themselves.

Guest reviews

We had a wonderful time on our adventure and are already looking forward to returning in the next couple of years.

We wouldn’t hesitate to refer Tabula Rasa—it was a great experience. And the chef was an incredible addition to the trip—truly a gem!

THE CHARTER WAS EXCELLENT.
Demian is very experienced and I think that is a strong selling point for that team. Angie prepared excellent and creative meals with a modern flair. Fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and jerk marinades, plantain, really good. Despite the consistent high winds, Demian found clear water and calm moments for some great snorkels. We appreciated the actual sailing which was a blast especially for my husband.
I would highly recommend.
Also the boat is renovated completely and has a very open lounge area both in back and front. While it does not have a second tier, its layout is almost better with the larger central spaces. Damien and Angie are super entertaining as well. They have sailed all over the world including Atlantic crossings. Very cool.

Good to know

We want to make sure you are well prepared and informed for your trip. Here are a few things you might want to know before you set off.
An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is an amount paid to the yacht before your charter. It's a fund to cover expenses such as food & drink eaten on board, fuel and mooring fees. At the end of your charter, you’ll receive a detailed document showing how the APA was spent, and any remaining balance will be refunded to you. if in doubt about what is included, ask your HELM broker.
The Captain will let you know if you're about to overspend and discuss your next steps, which wil generally be a bank transfer to top up the funds.
We recommend (10-15% for the Med) (15-20% for the Caribbean/Bahamas) of your charter fee, which will be split evenly among the crew (it's a nice touch to bring a blank envelope or a thank you card in advance).
We'll share your Captain's details with you a few weeks before your charter. We can set up a group chat with your group and the captain to discuss plans before you go.
