Good to know

We want to make sure you are well prepared and informed for your trip. Here are a few things you might want to know before you set off.

Yes, the local pilot guide will be on board, along with all the charts for the region

Every port authority in the Mediterranean require you to hold an official sailing licence to do a bareboat charter. If you are unsure if you have the right qualification, send us a copy of your licence and we can advise you if it will be accepted. Generally you will require an official license issued from a body such as the RYA or ASA that would allow you to skipper a similar sized yacht in your home country. In the Caribbean, a sailing resume will often suffice, but we recommend getting a licence if you don't have one already.

On a bareboat charter, the yacht comes ready to sail with all the sails and equipment ready. It will be your yacht for the charter period and you will be responsible for expenses such as fuel, berthing, provisioning and any additional services or equipment you require.

The security deposit works exactly like a hire car. It is security for the yacht operator that you will return the boat in the same condition that it is given, and that you will complete your responsibilities such as re-fuelling the boat. It is taken as a pre-authorisation on a credit card, and is released back to your card when you check out.

Yes the yacht is fully insured. The excess amount should there be a total loss is equal to the security deposit amount.
