About A PLACE IN THE SUN

Best for: groups of friends or families of up to ten, with multi-generational groups a close second.

A Place in the Sun is a 100-foot Broward motor yacht based in the Bahamas, crewed by five and built around giving a full group of ten a genuinely active, well-looked-after week on the water. The standout is Captain Dwight Ledbetter: a competitive sailing champion who has logged 196,000 bluewater miles, won the Fastnet Race, and crossed the Atlantic twelve times before moving into luxury motor yachts. That depth of seamanship means guests are in exceptionally capable hands wherever the itinerary leads.

Five cabins sleep ten comfortably across a range of configurations: a king master stateroom with separate his-and-hers bathrooms, a queen VIP on deck, a queen guest stateroom with a bathtub, and two further twin staterooms, each with private facilities. The water toy list is serious: a custom 33-foot rigid inflatable tender, five sea scooters, kayaks, water skis, towables, and snorkel sets for fifteen. Mate Kevin Thompson is a licensed captain in his own right, and Chief Stewardess Erika brings certified training to the service and bar programme. For groups who want a full schedule of activity ashore and afloat, with a crew that can genuinely deliver it, this boat earns its name.

How do you describe a slice of paradise?
The timeless elegance of this yacht is sure to please. The highly experienced crew provided us a such a memorable, we couldn’t stop talking about the experience all the way home. Lasting memories … snorkeling , feeding swimming pigs, hiking up above gorgeous cliffs and laying on a spectacular beach with none one else in sight…just a few highlights we will never forget. ‘APITS’ crew were superb, professional, fun-loving, detail-oriented, and committed to surpassing all expectations...anticipating everyone’s moods especially with four teenagers plus a ten-year old, the crew was able to keep them happy and busy the entire time…Overall a relaxing and gorgeous trip. THANK YOU!” - [Charter Guests - April 2024]

Good to know

We want to make sure you are well prepared and informed for your trip. Here are a few things you might want to know before you set off.
An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is an amount paid to the yacht before your charter. It's a fund to cover expenses such as food & drink eaten on board, fuel and mooring fees. At the end of your charter, you’ll receive a detailed document showing how the APA was spent, and any remaining balance will be refunded to you. if in doubt about what is included, ask your HELM broker.
The Captain will let you know if you're about to overspend and discuss your next steps, which wil generally be a bank transfer to top up the funds.
We recommend (10-15% for the Med) (15-20% for the Caribbean/Bahamas) of your charter fee, which will be split evenly among the crew (it's a nice touch to bring a blank envelope or a thank you card in advance).
We'll share your Captain's details with you a few weeks before your charter. We can set up a group chat with your group and the captain to discuss plans before you go.
