Chartering the Cyclades

After the 2025 East Med Multihull Yacht Charter Show (EMMYs), HELM Charter Brokers Eljo van Dijk and Bella Brown set sail for a four-day familiarisation trip aboard the luxury power catamaran Crazy Horse in Greece.

Their journey began in Poros and took them through the enchanting Cyclades, offering not just a taste of Greek island charm, but an insider look at the sailing experience.

We caught up with El and Bella to hear all about the experience and here’s what they had to say:

Let’s talk about the boat. First impressions?

Bella: I loved that it was a power catamaran. It made the cruising experience incredibly smooth, even with the typical Greek winds. The stability and speed were a huge bonus.

Another standout for me was the layout, the galley is located downstairs, which means the saloon felt super spacious. Even though we were onboard with brokers from other companies, it never felt cramped. You could enjoy company when you wanted it, but still find your own space.

El: We stayed in the VIP cabin, which was surprisingly roomy. With two massive suitcases and still plenty of space to move. What’s great is that the master cabin is very similar in size, so if you’re a family chartering together, there’s no need to argue over who gets the bigger room.

The flybridge was another highlight. All the sofas can be adjusted or collapsed to create more space. And up on the bow, there’s a perfect area for yoga or a morning stretch.

How was the crew onboard Crazy Horse?

Bella: Captain Tilemachos was amazing, so calm and confident. From the moment we stepped on board, we knew we were in good hands. He had some great local recommendations too.

And Emelia, the Chief Stewardess, completely stole my heart. She’s incredibly warm and welcoming. Also, I’m convinced she makes the best Aperol Spritz in all of Greece!

El: The crew were next level. Nickos and Stefanos, the deckhands, made us feel right at home. They were hilarious, helpful, and always one step ahead. If you’re into water toys they’ve got everything prepped and ready to go. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Any standout amenities on board?

Bella: They actually had their own limited edition Crazy Horse Paris x Domaine de la Périnade Rosé on board, which was such a special touch and delicious!

El: Loads of sea toys and nice bathroom products. It really felt like every little detail had been thought through.

Tell us about the destinations, what made the route special?

Bella: This was my first time doing Greece by boat, and it completely changed the game. Being able to hop from island to island with such ease is a dream.

A highlight was in Serifos, at the top of the hill was the cutest little town. We grabbed a drink at sunset near this charming old windmill. Magical.

El: This was actually my first time on a fully crewed yacht, and it was a much faster and larger boat than I’m used to. I loved our beach day, it was a gorgeous setup, plenty of watersports.

What was the best moment of the trip for each of you?

Bella: The beach BBQ day. Being anchored in a secluded bay, soaking up the sun, playing with water toys, it was just bliss.

El: For me, nothing beats watching the sunset on board with an Aperol Spritz in hand. Sitting with your friends, fully relaxed, and just soaking in the moment. It’s something really special.

Final thoughts on Crazy Horse?

Bella: Crazy Horse has an incredibly dedicated and professional crew that make you feel like a guest from the moment you step onboard. We weren’t just there to observe, we got the full experience and truly saw it from a client’s perspective.

I love sailing holidays because every day feels like a new adventure, and this was exactly that.
