Size and Budget
Your crew’s capabilities will depend on the size of yacht, number of crew, and your budget.
For example, a 30-metre charter yacht will typically run with 4-5 crew, compared to 60-metre yacht running with 13-15 and 90-metre running with up to 30 crew at a time.
Put simply, the more crew you have, the more they can do. On a larger yacht, you can expect a higher quality and personalisation of service simply because of the greater manpower. The same applies for budget; a higher charter fee generally correlates to greater, more impressive resources on board and a slightly more specialised crew. A larger and more specialised crew will also be able to pull off even more impressive requests.

So, you’ve booked your crewed yacht charter with HELM, and a month before your departure, you receive your preference sheet and you’re thinking, what exactly should I include?
The short answer is anything you can think of! The preference sheet helps the crew understand the experience you’re looking for, and make sure everything is in place to make it happen!
We suggest submitting your preferences at least two weeks before your charter. This gives the chef adequate time to plan menus, source specialty ingredients, and coordinate with local suppliers. It also allows your interior team to plan special occasions and gives your Captain time to book berths, anchorages and excursions.
