24 Hours in Ko Phi Phi

Ko Phi Phi is one of the most popular islands in Southern Thailand - and it’s not hard to see why. Bright turquoise waters, long stretches of white sand, the bustling Tonsai village full of restaurants, bars and stalls and a fun nightlife makes it the ultimate island experience.

There are no vehicles or forms of transport on the island so you are free to explore completely by foot, giving you the ultimate freedom in the Land of Smiles. Below are a few things you can do in just 24 hours while visiting magical Ko Phi Phi.

24 Hours in Ko Phi Phi

Visit Monkey Beach

Monkey Beach is a hidden and secluded cove northwest of Loh Dalam Bay. The beach is accessible by dinghy, longtail boat or kayak, and is home to a small community of monkeys who are not afraid to get up close and personal for a banana or two - an amazing experience in itself. The monkeys actually live up in the mountains, but the bold families come down to the beach to be fed.

The beach itself is a classic Phi Phi stretch of sand: beautiful, breathtaking and surrounded by emerald water.

Monkey Beach is well worth a visit - just remember to respect the monkeys

Hike to the Viewpoint

While on the island it is definitely worth the trek (and sweat) to the viewpoint on the island which allows you to look down over the breathtaking beaches and waters from 186m. Although it’s not that high, it is a beautiful place to stop and admire panoramic views of the island and bays from above.

The walk up takes around 20-30 minutes, and on this walk you can expect to find yourself surrounded by monkeys and other forms of wildlife. We recommend climbing up to the viewpoint at sunset, to watch the entire island fade from day to night under a silky orange sun.

Relax on the Beach

Ko Phi Phi is not shy of beautiful beaches. In fact, some would argue that the island is home to some of the most beautiful natural beaches in South East Asia, and therefore definitely worth exploring.

Loh Dalum Bay is one of the most popular and most beautiful beaches on Ko Phi Phi: a long stretch of silky white sand and clear, bright emerald waters surrounded by limestone cliffs topped by forest.

If you would like a more intimate and secluded experience, take a hike to Phak Nam Bay - an equally beautiful small beach that has only one resort.

Snorkelling

The turquoise waters are not just good for admiring or simply swimming in; the snorkelling on Ko Phi Phi is a fantastic experience too.

Our favourite snorkelling spot is Pi Leh Lagoon - a beautiful turquoise bay enclosed by high limestone cliffs.

Here you can snorkel amongst sergeant majors, colourful parrot fish and other bright species of fish.
