7 Days Around Fethiye

The Gulf of Fethiye is a great place to start your charter, giving access to bustling ports like Marmaris and Bodrum in the north, and the more peaceful beauty of Kas, Kalkan and Kekova Roads to the south. The variety of charter yachts in the area provide more than enough options for groups of every size. Fethiye is a large and lively market town built back from the large waterfront promenade. The streets are full of markets, bars and restaurants. The fish market is a real highlight - you can buy fresh seafood and take it to one of the surrounding restaurants to cook and serve.

The gorgeous Bestas Limani, better known as Coldwater Bay, is so called because the bay is fed by a number of cooling fresh water springs. This makes Coldwater Bay a superb high-season swim spot. The impressive Taurus mountains rise all around the fringes of the bay and there are two main anchorages. The untouched eastern anchorage is ideal in calmer weather, if a little more exposed than the western anchorage, located in a sheltered cove with a small pebble beach and a taverna on the hill.

Today is the longest day of the itinerary, allowing you to stretch your sea legs as you skirt east along the coast to the bustling Kas. if you're sailing for longer than one week, Kas is the perfect spot from which to venture around to Kekova Roads and explore myriad sheltered coves and anchorages. A naturally enclosed bay, sheltered by the long kekova island, this calm and secluded cruising idyll is off the tourist trail and all the better for it. You'll have to squeeze through some fairly tight passages to enter, but once here you'll note it was well worth it. Kaleköy in particular is worth a visit, with its Byzantine castle and Lycian necropolis.

After the long leg comes a gentler, more a relaxed sailing day, weaving between sleepy, uninhabited islands on a short jaunt westwards to Kalkan, with the dramatic Taurus mountains rising in the background. Stop off on the way for lunch and a swim in the delightful sheltered bay in the south of the Greek island of Ro. Once here, be sure to pay a visit to the ancient sites of Patara and Xanthos.

Ölüdeniz has an abundance of bays in which to moor up on your way back up the Lycian coast. The main town is a lively tourist town with bars and restaurants, from where you can access Mount Baba Dag, one of the world's top paragliding locations.
A must have is the fresh pancakes that will be delivered and cooked fresh on a traditional Turkish row boat, a great way to start the day!
Dine in the Taverna overlooking the bay
Swimming and Snorkelling
Hike up through the foothills to Kayakoy
Rock Jumping - There are a number of sheer rock faces with deep water below

Heading northwest, you'll nestle into the Gulf of Fethiye again on approach to Wall Bay, a real treat for your last night.

Your final sail will be a nice gentle cruise across the Gulf of Fethiye, passing many islands and beaches ideal for dropping anchor and taking a line ashore for a leisurely lunch and a swim on the way back to base.
